I think it's not bad to support sadump by makedumpfile. However I have
several questions.
- Do you want to use makedumpfile to make an existing file that sadump has
dumped small?
- It isn't possible to support the same form as kdump-compressed format
now, is it?
- When the information that makedumpfile reads from a note of /proc/vmcore
(or a header of kdump-compressed format) is added by an extension of
makedumpfile, do you need to modify sadump?

I tried a similar modification and got a similar result.
It read
[no tasks queued]
for both RT and CFS
but there are some "RU" tasks shown by ps command, and there are some tasks with "on_rq = 1".
I have not figured out the reason.

Though I have only vmlinux and vmcore, the crash uitlity told me that my kernel is 2.6.35.7.
Now I understand UP kernel support is not maintained very well.
When I make some progress, I will try to post patches.

Unable to switch stack frames while using crash

Hi,
I was investigating a 64 bit linux kernel dump . I have following doubts
regarding usage of crash.
1) I wanted to access the intermediate kernel stack frames. To know the
status of the frame and the point of failure.
When I tried to access a stack frame I get an error message "crash:
prohibited gdb command: frame". Can you please let me know if there is
any other way of accessing the kernel stack frames using
crash.
2) When I run bt in crash, I get a stack trace. Another person from a
different team reported a slightly different stack trace to mine. Below

3) I want to retrieve the address of a data structure in the current
context. How can it be done? I tried using struct command, but it did
not help
4) When I run the command readelf -a vmcore, I get an error message
"readelf: Error: Not an ELF file - it has the wrong magic bytes at the
start."

I forgot to mention one thing. I had to remove the following line from symbol.c as my target is non-SMP
1413: lm->mod_percpu = ULONG(modbuf + OFFSET(module_percpu));

I did not noticed that read_netdump() does not support multiple PT_LOADs for NETDUMP_ELF32 dump file format until yesterday.
It seems to me that VTOP/PTOV calculation fomula can be obtained from vmcore file. Am I wrong?
