It would be better to introduce a flag and initialize it like
if (symbol_exists("cpu_enable_mte"))
machdep->flags |= ARM64_MTE;
or something in arm64_init().
I think so, I will introduce a new flag - ARM64_MTE (0x2000) and initialize it on
PRE_SYMTAB stage.
There are some broken lines like the above in this patch, I cannot
apply
this patch. Could you check please?

I guessed you apply this patch failed based on commit
19d3c56c9fca9dea49dced0414becc6d1b12e9fc of arm64.c
I will resend this as V2 based on the latest tag.
